They met in Downton, New York. Their first album, Viva La Women was a conceptual album; all songs were cinematic poetries with food titles associated as an Asian identity, their music format was closed to hiphop, made by unique approach of samples.

SMOKEY AND MIHO
They met Smokey when Cibo Matto opened up for Beck's tour (Smokey played guitar in Beck's band). They shared a love of Brazilian music, were especially inspired by the album Os Afro Sambas by Baden Powell and Vinicius De Moraes (especially the element of Candomblé, the beauty of rhythm by Creolization in Brazil), which was the unit's beginning.
